Blog entry - This Day in December - Holding onto Hope

A poem, ‘This Day in December’

A vivid blur to remember
This day in December
Our LOSS fireplace is burning it’s ember
Eight years ago we were holding our twins
Perfect little faces, eyes, noses, chins
Wishing our frowns could have been grins
Now the present time stands so still
These winter nights bring an extra chill
Every daughter we’ve had born an angel
What should have been joys are so painful
My womb feels utterly deflated
A month that was supposed to be celebrated
Next year this time may feel complicated
For the month of December our hearts will surrender
Another beautiful daughter
Wings to fly brought to her
Born perfect, you wouldn’t have known she was ill
Her spirit left her earthly body
Our hopes and dreams are what she embodied
A peaceful embrace
Now our arms feel so displaced
Tears come and go as needed, no poker face
Imagining our angel children in the heavens
Until we are reunited hoping for more blessings
Their brother on Earth misses them so
He hopes we are blessed with another rainbow
Wishes for another dream come true
Our half and full term babies felt like a sneak preview
While we can’t control the timing of blessings
We hope this is the last birth that leaves us distressing
Mourning and grieving, slowly healing
Many emotions we will be feeling
Hoping next year is filled with more splendor
For it will be harder to forget these days in December
