Blog Entry - Holding onto Hope

This is a photo taken by the talented Jenine who is a Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep photographer, she also is a wonderful nurse who works at one of the KC area hospitals. Before my cesarean and before we met our beautiful daughter Noelle, we met with our birthing team, then took this photograph.
We were also blessed to have our Doula join us, Lauren, who works with Welcome Baby KC. She was an incredible support person there with us along side my husband, and our team of doctors and nurses. Lauren was able to capture some photos in the OR, and Jenine captured a few more after surgery in our recovery room.
We would like to thank everyone who helped us at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Your care, compassion for myself, our daughter, and our family, meant more than you know.
Because of your kindness our son was able to meet his baby sister before she passed away. This is a memory he talks about and one he will forever remember.
Thank you to the additional photographer who was on staff who also works with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep for taking photos of our family, and our precious Noelle after she passed away. We will treasure the photographs we receive and so very thankful we have the memories we do. You helped us with many keepsakes, were caring, and allowed us time to grieve after our daughter passed.
Since we’ve been home I’ve been even more blessed to receive Postpartum Doula support from Amanda, who also works with Welcome Baby KC. Her patience, understanding, guidance, and kindness has been what my heart has needed.
It takes a village. A community of support. It hasn’t even been a week since our loss and because of each person who’s been a part of our journey this path isn’t as hard to walk because we are not alone.
Even before Noelle was born these supportive people were already reaching out and helping be there along side me virtually. As well as our Welcome Baby KC placenta encapsulation specialist, Samantha.
Answering questions, listening, being a sounding board while I created birth and newborn care plans, helping me through moments of worry while I continued to hold onto hope that our daughter would be strong enough to come home with us.
No not all the credit goes to others however without their support I feel I would not be walking this path as easily as I am right now.
Planning for birth and death during pregnancy has been one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done.
It takes a village, and I’m thankful I have one. 🥰☺️🙏❤️
