Pumping and Donating, October 1st 2021

Talked about pumping with my 7 year old son at the breakfast table while bottling what I had pumped for this morning, and about how I’m expressing less.

Kiddo says “wow, you got up to 2”, when referring to the 2.5oz bottle I was filling.
Then kiddo says “I think you’ll make up to four years old.” I asked what he meant by that and he said, “the baby you’re donating to.”
I explained how if I’m making less and pumping less often, that I probably won’t make milk for that much longer. I also said how I was surprised and thankful I’ve been able to do this for about ten months.
Then kiddo replied, “I guess Noelle was a great baby to help you make milk.”
I replied with tears, “yes, Noelle was a great baby”, got up and kissed my son on his head and said “and you’re a great kid.”
It’s been a journey and one that I’m thankful for. My baby girl isn’t in our arms like she should be but she is still in our hearts, living there forever.
